To Sweden, Iceland and Back
On June 26, 2025, a team from The Well traveled to Sweden and Iceland to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Little did they know how difficult and stretching it would be. But God. Partnering with European Initiative’s mission program, Go40, the teams performed dramas, did street evangelism, and ministered to local church members. In total, alongside the Go40 team, 537 gospel conversations were made and 46 people decided to follow Jesus. Every single person on the team came back changed. The following paragraphs are excerpts from team members about their experiences on the trip.
Reflection From Across The Pond - by Katlyn Keim
“Europe was... something else. A culture so deeply ingrained in the idea that they’re free, yet so detached from the one thing that brings true freedom into our lives. It’s a cold place—not just because of its subpar summer temperatures, but because of its pursuits, demeanors, and accolades rooted in insincerity.
And yet, the hearts of our team were burning with a desire—for the lost to return home. Last words carry a weight that shapes the legacies we leave behind. And while our Savior didn’t stay dead—and we live with the beautiful promise of seeing Him when we return home—His final words on this side of Heaven left us with a command: tell the nations.
The Great Commission is often misunderstood. In our craving for safety and comfort, it’s reduced to The Great Suggestion. But until we live out the purpose of our souls, we remain stuck—either in complacency or, worse, in silence when it comes to the gospel. The enemy will do all he can to convince us this is okay.
We’ll doubt our ability to speak, to minister, to be understood—or fear we’ll just come off as plain weird. But take heart! The Lord ends the Great Commission with a beautiful promise: ‘And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’ So get out there. No matter the risk or the ‘what ifs,’ we live with the unshakable promise that the Creator of the universe is in our corner. My hope is in Him. A renewed trust and reverence for the Great Commission is my souvenir from Europe—and what a gift that is.”
“Before the trip I was always hearing about how lost the European nations were, and how difficult it could be to witness to those nations. I didn’t take it to heart much and couldn’t fully understand what made it so hard. They’re modern, wealthy, tourist countries and have easy access to everything needed to hear the gospel. In my mind, I had simply assumed that they’ve surely heard of Jesus and were familiar with what Christians were. I was wrong. I had countless conversations in both Sweden and Iceland where people were hearing of Jesus for the first time. Even the Christians we did meet had a very skewed idea of what it meant to actually be follow Christ. In Iceland, a historically Christian nation, the believers we ran into had never prayed, didn’t own a Bible, and only went to church on Christmas and Easter or simply didn’t go at all. But yet, they were convinced that they were Christians. I think what stuck out to me most about the people I had conversations with was their complete lack of spiritual beliefs. They didn’t believe in anything more than themselves, had no thoughts on what would happen after death, and no desire to look into any of it. They were comfortable with their lives and were 100% ok with leaving everything up to chance, not thinking about what happens when this life is over. Despite some hard conversations, discouragement, and a lack of response from people, the Lord still worked in his mighty ways. We witnessed and led multiple people to salvation. We handed out Bibles and hosted church services where we saw locals that were invested, asking questions and hungry for more. Seeds were planted, and we trust that God will bring them to fruition.” - Chris Miller
“Europe, you will always have a piece of my heart. After Sweden, I knew my life was changed. After Iceland, I knew I was forever a new person. The best way I can describe the transformation that happened in my life these past ten days is simply: the Lord traded my heart and the need for a ‘solidified plan’ for His heart for the lost, broken, and those who need to hear the good news. A heart transplant of sorts.
In Sweden, I experienced the true meaning of compassion, and in Iceland I saw how it could take action in the conversations I had with so many different people.
To say it was a culture shock would be a tremendous understatement. At first, I struggled with starting intentional conversations and connection, but something changed when the Lord wrecked me with His heart of compassion. That truly changed everything. I’m not doing this to edify who I am or to keep a count but to save the broken and share what made me whole! That’s our job, our calling, our mission - to show the world the Jesus that made us whole again!
I’m honored and so humbled to be a part of the revival that is being birthed in Europe. These hearts are longing for something real. Being able to bring the simple gospel and the power that comes from it will forever be my highest calling in life.
We each are called, wherever we are in our walk, to go out into the nations and share the good news. It’s not a time to be comfortable but to share regardless of the fear, inconvenience, and uncertainty. If Jesus called his followers to this, then He is more than able to equip every single one!” - Mya Wengerd
